The horror-comedy film ‘Bhoot Police’ (2021) is getting a sequel, and the film will be directed by Priyadarshan, known for his iconic films like ‘Hera Pheri’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa’. But this time it will feature a fresh star cast, giving the franchise a new direction and promising a mix of scares and laughs for the audience.
Makers are planning a fresh franchise direction
While the first ‘Bhoot Police’ starred Saif Ali Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Yami Gautam, the makers have decided to bring in new established names for the sequel. According to a Pinkvilla report, “Priyadarshan sir will direct the film, and the team is currently shaping the script. Ramesh ji and Akshay ji are backing the project once again, and the casting is currently in process. The makers want to take the franchise in a fresh direction, and Priyadarshan ji’s comic sensibilities make him the perfect fit.”
Original film gained praise for witty humour
The first ‘Bhoot Police’ may not have been a big box office success, but it was appreciated for its clever humour and engaging storyline. The film followed two brothers, Vibhooti and Chiraunji, who worked as ghost hunters and exorcist fraudsters. They were hired by Maya to tackle a ghost haunting a tea plantation, only to discover that the supernatural threat was real. Their journey combined hilarious moments with genuine scares, keeping audiences both entertained and on edge.Saif Ali Khan played Vibhooti, Arjun Kapoor was Chiraunji, Yami Gautam played Maya, and Jacqueline Fernandez portrayed Kanika, Maya’s sister. Priyadarshan’s upcoming film projects
Apart from the ‘Bhoot Police’ sequel, the filmmaker is also working on ‘Haiwaan’, a remake of his Malayalam film ‘Oppam’ starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, as well as ‘Hera Pheri 3’. For ‘Hera Pheri 3’, he will be reuniting the original cast, which includes Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal.
