In Hindu mythology, mortals prayed and performed elaborate rituals to please Indra, the god of rain. Legend has it that musician Tansen’s melodious voice could summon showers from cloudless skies. Ordinary mortals, however, have neither the Ashvamedha yagna nor Tansen’s tenor.
