“Expected to take time after the Super Bowl”: Travis Kelce is currently uncertain about his future playing career in 2025 and beyond

Travis Kelce, a four-time All-Pro tight end, is not yet ready to retire from the NFL, as he approaches the end of his 12th season with the Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce aims to add a fourth championship ring to his collection during the Chiefs’ upcoming game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Kelce has seen a decline in his performance over the past two years, dropping below 1,000 yards in the regular season, with 823 receiving yards and only three touchdowns.

Travis Kelce is “undecided” about his future football career in 2025

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce is “undecided” about his future football career in 2025 and beyond.

Kelce, who expressed his love for the game and the Chiefs organization, may still be able to walk away following Sunday’s Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles after a 12-year career that has been one of the greatest in league history.
According to Rapoport, Kelce is “expected to take time after the Super Bowl, consider his future and make a decision before free agency.” In addition, the result of Sunday’s game against the Eagles could play a role in his decision.
On Super Bowl opening night, Kelce expressed his hope to continue playing football in three years. “Hopefully still playing football. I love doing this. I love coming into work every day. I feel like I still got a lot of good football left in me.” Kelce, a former All-Pro and 10 Pro Bowl selection, has a career record of 1,004 passes for 12,151 yards and 77 touchdowns, including three Super Bowl titles, and has caught 97 passes this season for 823 yards and three touchdowns.
Kelce believes that he can play for a few more years yet. “I’ve thought about it, but I still love what I do. I love coming into work every day,” he said on radio row in New Orleans. “It’s moments like these, weeks like these, the month that we just had in the playoffs that make me feel like I could play this game forever.”
“I feel like I still have a lot of good football left in me. We’ll see what happens. I know I’ve been setting myself up for other opportunities in my life. That’s always been the goal knowing football only lasts for so long. I want to play as long as I can play. I don’t know if that’s three years or what the count is. I would say, according to my health, I have a good routine set for myself. I try to keep myself out of certain situations on the field.”

Kelce, despite his decline, remains a valuable asset for Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid, and his intention not to retire soon is expected to be a source of excitement.
