'Wanted someone who had not cosmetically done something to her face or body,' says Mohit Suri about casting Aneet Padda in 'Saiyaara' opposite Ahaan Panday

Mohit Suri‘s directorial ‘Saiyaara’ has made two newcomers into stars overnight. While Ahaan Panday made his debut with this film, Aneet had done work earlier. She was seen in Kajol starrer ‘Salaam Venky’ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry’. In a recent interview, Mohit revealed why he cast her.The ‘Aashiqui 2’ director said during a chat with Bollywood Hungama, “It took 4, 5 months to find this girl. Sorry If I’m not sounding too politically correct one thing which was scary was I wanted a young 20, 22 year old girl who had not done anything consmetically to her face or body and that’s difficult to find in today’s day and age. Can you imagine? I didn’t think it would be that big a requirement. But it was.”He added, The kind of role it was, I wanted someone who was real and had not done something to herself. She had done work earlier and she was brilliant. She came through the whole slotting of auditions.”Suri further spoke about casting Aneet during an interview with Dainik Bhasker, “We wanted a simple girl from a Punjabi background who wants to come back home by 8:30 pm, has a value system, is not some old school person but lives with the times, and there’s nothing wrong with her being simple. I couldn’t find that girl until I saw her.”Talking about Aneet’s audition, Mohit added, “Her first audition was a self audition shot on a mobile phone and it was so brilliant. Shanoo Sharma called her, did more auditions and showed me different takes. All the auditions that she did, she never copied anyone, she did it with her originality.”
