Karan Singh Grover and Jennifer Winget became television’s ‘it couple’ after starring together in the medical drama Dill Mill Gaye in 2009. Their on-screen chemistry soon translated into real life, leading to their marriage in 2012. In a recent interview, Dill Mill Gaye director Siddharth P Malhotra reminisced about the initial days of their romance and the pressures Karan faced due to his immense fame.
In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Siddharth Malhotra revealed that he still receives messages from fans requesting a Dill Mill Gaye 2 with Karan Singh Grover reprising his role as Dr. Armaan. Speaking about Karan and Jennifer’s relationship, he recalled that their romance blossomed on set. “They had to perform romantic sequence upon romantic sequence, and it was a proper rom-com,” he said.
Describing Karan as a “very charming man,” Malhotra noted, “He was, then and now, a good-looking man, a charming man, and of course, he had women flocking towards him. But he genuinely fell in love with Jennifer. Otherwise, why would he have gotten married? They got married.” However, the marriage ended after just a few years.
Post Dill Mill Gaye, Karan starred in Qubool Hai and ventured into films, but his movie career didn’t take off as expected. When asked if Karan “lost his way” in his later years, Malhotra commented, “A lot was going on in his life. With success, many things change. I wouldn’t say he ‘lost his way,’ but things didn’t go as they should have. If he had worked on his stardom then, it would have helped. But these are learnings we all go through in life.”
In a previous interview with Siddharth Kannan, Jennifer Winget reflected on her divorce, stating, “I am so thankful that this situation happened. I realized that there is so much more that I have to offer. I found this new life and became Jennifer 2.0. When I look back at it, it was the best time of my life. At that time, it didn’t feel so, but whatever happened, happened, and I’m so much better now.”
Karan Singh Grover is now married to Bipasha Basu, and the couple are proud parents to their daughter, Devi.
